Building Entrepreneurship in Your Community

RAGM President Nick Frankle is leading a three-person team in the presentation of a breakout session at the Rotary World Peace Conference in Ontario, California (Rotary World Peace Conference in Ontario, California on 17 & 18 January 2020. https://peaceconference2020.org/).

It is not trite to say that the smiles on the faces of the entrepreneurs is a telling sign that they are moving forward with their lives and those of their families. But what is more compelling is the unlimited potential for some if not most of the businesses started through the Rotarian Action Group for Microfinance program. The goal is no less than to Eliminate Poverty by Empowering People.

Building Entrepreneurship in Your Community

In many communities, minorities and low-income entrepreneurs lack the training and resources to start a business and become successful. Rotary Clubs and their community partners have developed sustainable models that enable communities like yours to offer entrepreneurs access to capital and community support.

The elements of community microfinance program include Needs Assessment, Education, Loan Capital, Mentoring, Networking and Evaluation. The presentation, a copy of which is set out below, then discusses each of these contributing elements. Near the end, the presentation shows a chart of  several statistics about a long term RAGM program in Honduras, now in it's sixth phase over as many years. The client base has increased by over 300% and is now over 9,000 clients. There has been a 400% increase in the loan portfolio now offering more than $14.5 M. There is an exceptionally high repayment rate of 98%. As a bonus safe water projects instigated by the Program now provide safe drinking water to more than 3,000 villagers.

Since Nick proudly represents RAGM as President (2019 - 2020) and is passionate about world peace, it is not surprising that Nick has figured prominently in the organizing and implementation of the Rotary World Peace Conference. Summer Lewis and Past RAGM Pres. Jim Louttit will each be contributing to the Peace Conference presentation.
