What's Happening to End Extreme Poverty by 2030

Achieving Sustainable Development Goal #1-Opportunities for Rotary

"Rotary International, because of its extensive breadth and vibrant project structure, is in a unique position to play an important role in eliminating extreme poverty from the planet.   And in so doing, Rotary will be taking a giant step toward achieving world peace."  So begins this brief article about ultra-poverty and Rotary's role in ending it.

The article describes the Ending Ultra-Poverty Summit and Retreat that will immediately follow the Rotary International Convention in Toronto.  The Summit will educate Rotarians about the Sustainable Development Goals and ultra-poverty.

The day after the Summit, about 40 leaders at the Ending Ultra-Poverty Retreat will design actions to have Rotary help to form a coalition and "bless" local Rotary support of projects focused on ultra-poverty.  Four replicable Rotary-oriented ultra-poverty projects will be spotlighted and a two-year action plan will be produced.

Now is the time for Rotary to get more involved in the ending poverty movement!
