Stories like the one below

are reminders of the great good we do in the world to people we never know. -  Nick Frankle is the President Elect Nominee of RAGM & District Governor (5240).

The Spanish Smart Entrepreneurial Training mentioned in the news flash below was funded entirely by a Rotary Foundation Grant as was the initial outreach to the local Hispanic community.

Congratulations to the Diaz family celebrating their business's 25th anniversary! When they first came to WEV, the family was thinking of selling the family butcher shop, but after they completed our Spanish Smart Entrepreneurial Training program in Santa Maria, the Diazes learned that their business had a lot of potential and that they could make it work. We wish them many more years of success.

From the WEV website:

WEV's Women's Business Center (WBC) proudly offers the SET program, a 14-week course providing week-by-week training in the most important aspects of organizing, financing, marketing and managing a small business. Participants leave the course with a complete business plan to manage the business and/or apply for funding.

The SET course is offered in two tracks to best meet the needs of clients. Track A is designed for clients that are not yet in business, and committed to launching their business within a year. Track B is most appropriate for clients with established businesses who are committed to stabilizing and growing the business over the next year.

Personal Note from Nick:

It's interesting.  My wife, Heather, began her quest for a microfinance grant in District 5240 because of a story she had read in our local newspaper.  It described a young man working in the fields who had come from a family of butchers in Mexico.  He wanted to open a butcher shop but he knew that he could never qualify for the funds needed to start a business.  Heather told me we could do something about that.  The rest is history.  For more information on the Microfinance Project in District 5240 (Central California Coast) see:
